Catfish & Mollies Tank - 55 Liters (14.5 gallons)





 

TANK INFORMATION
DIMENSIONS (cm) 55X28X37 (LXWXH)
FILTRATION: 550 Liters / hour. One integrated Trio 2000 filter coupled by a sponge filter.
LIGHTING: 1X14W Sun Glo fluorescent tube
SUBSTRATE: Medium quartz gravel and sand (1:10). No bottom fertilizers or CO2 injection.
AQUASCAPE: Some rocks, a big clay pot for the catfishes, many live plants (mainly Amazon sword plants).
CHEMISTRY: pH=8, GH=9, KH=8
WATER CHANGES: 50% of the water every week. During that time we add the liquid plant fertilizer, the salt and the tap water conditioner. Clear-ease (from Mydor) added as needed.

INHABITANTS
Yellow/Black sailfin mollies
(one pair)
Black/orange/blue sailfin mollies
(one breeding pair). The female has already released twice and the fry stays in the tank with its parents (nine of them surviving up to now).
Synodontis nummifer
(catfish). Later transferred to the non-mbuna aquarium
Corydoras trilineatus (see photo at left)
Five of them (all F0).
