Hi everyone,

I am the one who created this tool and it is still work in progress.

I don't speak any Greek and I am using "Google language Tool" to translate from English to Greek so please be gentle to my Greek language. :hysterical:

I spent over 4 months developing this site out of my own spare time. The tool is not perfect but it has much potential according to the users of the tool. I have been accumulating hundreds (if not thousands) of feedback from various forums and they have been progressing nicely with lots of positive feedback.

If you are interested, please read:

Introduction to AqAdvisor.com

If you have any questions or you found missing species or filters, please let me know. :ooh2:

Hallo yhbae and welcome.

Nice tool and good work.

Certainly there are many more filters and fishes to choose for the tool.

(i did not find eheim 2211, or internal juwel filters, hydor filters etc. and older models)

It was a little strict about my set up. (better from the opposite :hysterical: )

The filtration is perfect and 30% every 10 days water changes are enough.

Althought I had to put in the tool, sterbai cory instead of leucomelas (that i have).

There are a little bigger but there are living in similar parameters.

- The dimension you ask, are about the water volume or of the tank?

- What are the sources of information you use about filtration and water parameters?

Thanks for your kind words. :hysterical:

If you can list filters you don't see, I'd happily add them into aqadvisor.com. Eheim 2211 will be added. I cannot find any specification for Juwel filters though and I am working on some users in UK to look for this information right now. I thought Hydor produces powerheads? I didn't know they also produce filters.

Could you give me the exact scientific names of species that are not in aqadvisor.com? I'll add those too.

The dimension is really for water volume because that's what really matters. Tank footprint is much more important because that's what determines how much fish you can hold and also used to calculate territory if you have territorial/aggressive species.

I've got filtration info from the manufacturer sites but use lower ratings because in real world, they don't operate at 100% efficiency. Currently, it uses only 55% of the rated capacity, but I may raise it to 65% based on amount of complaints I am getting because of this...

I don't see fishbase, you didn't use this?

Yes you are right, I use those sites for my research but my #1 source is, as you mentioned, fishbase.com. I should add that site to my list too... :hysterical:

Many hobbyists have hydor prime filters. http://www.hydor.it/prodotti/show/famprod/13/list/4

For juwel filters there are information on the site http://www.juwel-aquarium.de/en/test35.htm

Every manufacturer has different philosophy on the characteristics that are given for the ability of filtration.

Some are nearest in real world.

Filtermedia has a big effect in filtration capacity of each filter.

In my own aquarium the tool failed. Τhe eheim 2026 is ample for juwel rio180, (a filter-freak speaking).

I can send to you a research of popular species but i think it's more important the compatibility between species, not only by water parameters. Tool must calculate αγgressiveness, space dominance, diet, decoration and enviroment of aquarium (ex water flow), number of min fishes for schooling species, stocking ratio male-female for other species.

For example this composition that is proposed here is error (IMO) exept the parameter of water 7 pH that is very low for African cichlids. There are too many fishes for this aquarium and also ancistrus not compatible. Species pushed to the limits.

There is a need of research for the cohabitation.

I will admit the app is far from perfect. Most attributes you have mentioned are already in the app but some of what you mentioned are not, I'll think about those.

If you can check the following URL (unpublished article) it will tell you which attributes are built into the application right now.

Yes.

Also, it would be a big help for European aquarists, an auto converter calculating dimensions in cm and liters.

Yes.

Also, it would be a big help for European aquarists, an auto converter calculating dimensions in cm and liters.

Very good work. :)

Wow the first one on the list is monsterous!

What's new for 2009 12 13 build:

- Added L018, L085 and L177 variations of Gold Nugget Plecos. L081 existed already in DB.

- Added Assassin Snail.

- Added Rainbow Cichlid.

- Added Five Banded Barb.

- Added Red Phantom Tetra.

- Added Sumo Loach.

- Added Chao Phraya Giant Catfish/Paroon Shark.

- Added Albino Bristlenose Pleco.

- Added Corydoras duplicareus.

- Added Starlight Bristlenose Pleco.

- Added Otocinclus vestitus.

- Added Golden Oto.

- Added Mrs Schwartz Cory.

- Added Rio Negro Dwarf Cichlid.

- Added Two Line Cory (Corydoras parallelus).

- Added Corydoras incolicana.

- Added Macmaster Dwarf Cichlid (Apistogramma macmasteri).

- Added Steindachner Dwarf Cichlid.

- Dojo/Weather Loach has been marked as snail eaters.

- Fixed a spell error for "Gold Nudget Pleco".

- Gold Nugget Plecos are removed from species that require driftwood.

- Added a note that L018 is a juvenile form of L085 Gold Nugget Pleco.

- URL format has been changed. Past bookmarks are not backward compatible with the current build. Please re-do your bookmarks if you have them already. This was done so that I can update future common or scientific names of existing species in DB without breaking bookmarks again in the future.

- "Lake Tang" group has been created. All species from that lake has been added, and if a user tries to mix any fishes not belonging to this group, a warning will be displayed.

- Fixed a bug: Sometimes, "Display only suitable species" was getting activated automatically at unwanted times. This has been fixed.

- Total number of species in DB has been increased to 468.

Please click on AqAdvisor site to access the application.

Once again, my apology - I couldn't add all requested species this time around due to lack of time. I'll add it for the next release!
